I have for the most part out grown the Windsor bar scene, but there is a place that has arrested my development.
It takes something special to motivate me to drive the 25 minutes from Amherstburg to Windsor for just a drink or two with friends. I discovered Vermouth during an intimate single malt tasting which also turned into an evening of Old Fashions and great conversation among scotch hounds.
Vermouth is unique in that it really does it best to hold onto an bygone era where people appreciate what they are drinking and the work that goes into mixing a great cocktail. The ambiance of the bar is a throwback, rich warm wood everywhere, dim yet warm lighting from vintage fixtures and a great long bar that draws you to its stools.
Here is the clincher guys, Vermouth has an awesome and ever growing selection of Single Malt Scotch Whisky*. Windsor (most of Ontario for that matter) has always lacked a great place to try all kinds of different single malts at a fair price and Vermouth is that place.
Vermouth is a great place to get an old school cocktail (made the right way), a dram of some of the best single malt scotches available in Ontario and just a awesome place to hang out with friends and have a few drinks.**
One more thing: I will be hosting a single malt scotch tasting at Vermouth in August on either the 21st or 22nd. If you are interested in attending please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, message the Braised Blue facebook page, tweet me @IAMNedin or leave a comment in the comment section here.
*And bourbon for that matter.
**You can find Vermouth at 333 Ouellette Ave in Windsor, Ontario between Park and University.
